Frequently Asked Questions
Uniform & Practical Information
Do children wear a uniform?
Yes. All children at Hopscotch are required to wear our winter and summer uniform.
We also ask families to provide:
Velcro shoes for easy independence
Indoor shoes to change into at school
What practical things do parents need to know?
Toys from home
Soft toys and personal toys should stay at home so nothing gets lost or damaged.
Jewellery
For safety reasons, children should not wear jewellery to school.
Labelling
All clothing and personal items must be clearly labelled.
Arrival & pick-up times
Please respect the school’s opening and closing hours so the daily rhythm runs smoothly.
Illness
Children should stay home when unwell. If a child becomes ill during the day, we will contact parents to collect them.
Birthdays
Children are welcome to bring a cake to celebrate their birthday at school.
Please remember we are a nut-free school — check all ingredients carefully
What languages do you speak?
English is the main language of our day, but our bilingual team ensures smooth Spanish support whenever children need it. For ages 3–6, we also include 1–2 hours of Spanish lessons each week to strengthen confidence in both languages.
Does my child need to be toilet trained?
No, we support toilet training child led, gently and in partnership with parents.
How do you handle allergies or food preferences?
Chef Gary prepares meals onsite, and we can accommodate many allergies and dietary needs.
Please inform us during admissions so we can plan safely.
How will I know how my child is doing?
We use Tapestry for daily photos, videos and updates. We also have parents meetings in December and if there are any issues teachers will automatically feedback to parents.
You’ll also receive weekly notes, monthly emails, and daily feedback at pick-up.
What are the fees and schedule?
We offer half-day and full-day options.
Contact us directly for availability and exact pricing.
Where can I find the school fees?
You can find the current fee structure for the current academic year on the Admissions page. All fees include meals, materials, and private health insurance.
Are fees paid monthly or yearly?
Fees are charged for the full academic year. Families may choose to pay in 11 or 12 instalments, but the yearly amount remains the same.
Is there a matriculation (enrollment) fee?
Yes. A one-time matriculation fee is required upon enrolment to secure your child’s spot.
Do you offer discounts for siblings?
Yes. Families with more than one child enrolled at Hopscotch receive a family discount.
What holidays and closures do you follow?
We follow a school-year calendar aligned with local holidays in Catalonia. A full list is shared each May for the year ahead.
If my family travels abroad for a month, do we still pay for that period?
Yes. Fees secure your child’s place in their class and contribute to the fixed costs that remain the same throughout the year — including teacher salaries and staffing ratios. Your child’s place is reserved for them regardless of holiday periods.
