Parent Participation |
A child’s first few days at nursery cannot only be difficult for the child but can also create worry and anxiety for parents. We are dedicated to making the transition as smooth and relaxed as possible. During this stage, if necessary to comfort the child, Spanish will be used. We have a gradual separation policy and a child-settling period which will be reviewed and determined on an individual basis.
At Hopscotch Nursery we understand the importance of parents being fully involved in their children’s daily activities, progress and development in their nursery environment. We believe parents have the right to be included in their children’s pre-school experiences and that through working closely with parents, we can better identify the needs of each child. Families are central to a child’s well-being and we support this by sharing as much information and help for extended learning at home, making Hopscotch an extension of your home. Open-door PolicyAs our aim is to work closely with parents, we have implemented an 'open door' policy, respecting sleep time, which allows parents to communicate freely with staff and teachers.
Parent VolunteersWe want parents to be as involved in Hopscotch Nursery as possible, so we invite them to volunteer during nursery hours. Although we have a programme in place, we are open to suggestions.
Monthly WorkshopsWe will host workshops for parents on various themes regarding children, our first one will be an introduction to Hopscotch and our philosophy.
Tapestry Online Learning JournalOnline interactive learning platform that parents can follow their child’s development and progress. All information held in the platform is stored securely and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents or carers are able to view their child’s progress, the activities provided for them, and how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments and media. The communication between staff and parents that Tapestry enables, helps build a shared understanding of how every child can reach their full potential, from their first day at Hopscotch until they graduate.
